Joan Uran, 83, of Stanley, ND passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Trinity Health Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.

Joan Ruth Johnson was born August 30th, 1936 at Sanish, ND to Laurence & Hazel (Lowe) Johnson. She attended grade school at Van Hook, ND and High School at Carrington, ND.

On October 24th, 1953 Joan was united in marriage to Kenneth Uran in St. Francis Catholic Church north of New Town, ND. In 1960 they moved to their farm north of New Town, ND along Hwy 1804. They had a dairy farm and ranched.

Joan worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at the New Town Good Samaritan Center for many years. She was the clerk for Rat Lake Township from 1960 up to her retirement.

She was a member of the Altar Society of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Stanley, ND. Joan was a 4-H Leader for the Wednesday Wild Cats and later enjoyed helping her grandchildren with their 4-H projects. In 2016 she donated to the Mountrail County 4-H program “The Joan Uran Scholarship Fund.”

During her spare time she enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, yard work, baking and taking care of the birds.

Survivors include: sons, Kent (Jeanine) of New Town, ND, Mark (Penny) of Stanley, ND and Kevin (Dalaine) of New Town, ND; grandchildren, Donnie (Jammie) Uran of Sidney, MT, Amber Uran & (Kevin) of Kenmare, ND , Brian (Paige) Uran of Ross, ND, Brad (Tara) Uran of Stanley, ND, Tyler (Jessie) Uran of Ross, ND and Katie (Josh) Steele of Ross, ND; great-grandchildren, Natasha , Hannah & Landon Uran, Kiana (Sean) Smith, Gina & Briar Steele & Ledger Uran. Also surviving are her; sister, Patsy (Thomas) Magda of Venice, FL and sister-in-law, Pearl Johnson of Stoughton, WI.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; brothers, Marvin & Hal Eugene (Bobby); sister, Betty Hansen and brother-in-law, Carl Hansen.
