Prayers & hugs. Orvis was my 1st cousin but I thought of him as an Uncle to whom I could ask advise because he was honest & easy to talk to. He was a Christian with a great singing voice, dedicated family man, involved in the community, and truly a caring man who would give you the shirt off his back. I have so many memories that I could write several books.

Orvis was the best of friends to my husband. We knew him from The Men’s Quartet and the Homestead Lutheran Church. Orvis was a lover of life and people and had a great sense of humor.

He was a nice man .Last time I saw him was at my Grandpa Martini funeral .we talked about horses and I showed him pictures of them .so sorry for your loss .

We bought a house across the street from Kim and Rick as newlyweds in a new community in 1993. It did not take long for the Nelson/Knick family to become our own family. From family meals, card playing, pie making and to just visiting, those are times that are cherished!! Orvis and Lois took us in and included us as there own. What a wonderful and generous family. Our thoughts and love are with you all!!

We are so sorry for your loss. As you guys know Orvis and Lois where always my favorite neighbors. When I think of the old days on the farm I have such great memories of events we all did together. Birthdays, 4H Parties,etc. When I think of your Dad I see him laughing in his special chuckle way. I know he his laughing in heaven with Lois right now. Love you, Kelly

I remember when we were kids and all of went to Canada in one car. We thought we hit the jack pot with all the stuff we brought bsck. The big box of fashion boots. They were styling.
How I loved to come to the farm. Learned to drive stick shift car. Taking the noon meals to the guys out on the field. Making tons of bars thinking that they would last but didn't. I sure enjoyed when Christmas was on the farm.
Looking at old slides and playing the piano. It was great times with your dad and mom. I had your dad sing at my wedding. He sang the Lord's Prayer. It meant so much to me. How Drano and I took the grain truck with grain in it. How Dean would drive me all over the farm stead. How we would pick choke cherries close to the house. How two deer used to come to the house since you guys bottle fed them as babies. I have so many memories that I will cherish because of the wonderful parents you had.

Orvis was my cousin and a very good friend. We had lots of visits at his farm. Lois and he loved to have company. They were very special people. When we went to church with them it filled my heart to sing beside him. He had such a wonderful singing voice. He raised a wonderful family. They both will be missed by so many. God speed.

Kim, Dale, Dean and families. So sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I remember your Dads awesome voice. Many memories of them singing at different occasions. I also remember his chuckle. Now your Dad and Mom are together again. Hope all the memories your families have made together, help to heal your pain in the days to come.

I am so thankful Orvis reached out to me and we were able to reconnect several years ago. Rod and I will always treasure our visits with Orvis, Lois and other members of their family and the meals we shared with them, especially the homemade lefse. I am also thankful that we were able to view the moving graveside service video Saturday.
