He was a great caring man. It was a pleasure to work with him for 12 years, until he retired. He taught me a lot, but mostly how to love my job and care for our patients. Such a great honor! Heaven has gained a wonderful angel! Until we meet again.

I worked many years at Mercy with Dr. Herr. His patents were usually on Surgical B wing. Back then you could stay in the hospital for a few days so we spent alot of time with eye drops and exams! He was always precise and through and his patients did well.He was a great Dr. and nice man. treated the nurses well also!!!!

I’ve always had the highest regard for Dr Herr since he diagnosed my pituitary tumor 43 years ago. As a result I had surgery and radiation and have had no more problems. He was a kind and gentle doctor who helped countless patients. My deepest sympathy to his family. The Williston community has lost a great man.

Such a kind and giving man. I have such sweet memories of him pulling Geoffrey onto his lap after he did all the eye tests...so many times! She did not like many people as a baby so that says something about John! Much later, he is the only one that noticed I had a flat tire in the church parking lot and changed it for me. He loved talking about those pheasants!
I'm so grateful for knowing him and Bert!!!

Ann and I share our sincere condolences to the Herr family. I worked with John while I was affiliated with Mercy between 1984-1990. Most of my experience with him was while I was CEO, during which time I got to know John as a very good and respected clinician, and he took a keen interest in my interest in hunting. May he Rest In Peace. Bob and Ann Fale
