Mom & dad (Marlys & Garfield Bergstrom) thought so much of John. He grew up ‘across the road’ & never forgot his roots. The highlight of the winter for my parents was when John, came across the frozen river, to visit them. I am sure all the neighbors are having a great reunion right now. May God Bless his memory.

I am so grateful for the years spent camping at Tobacco Gardens and for the time my kids and I got to spend with Uncle John. His stories and jokes would have us laughing until we cried. He didn’t hesitate to open up his garage so we could use his tools while at the lake and always let me do my massive amounts of lake laundry at his home so I didn’t have to haul it back and forth. He even drove his Ranger across the ice to the other side of the lake to pull my husband out of the ice ridge he fell through with our Ranger. We shared many fishing stories and he loved joining us when we would have a fish fry. He loved a good game of pinochle and he sure was a ladies man. We will miss you deeply Uncle John. We love you.

Every time I would visit my brother, we would play cribbage until daylight then go to bed. John seemed to have more wins than me. We’d wear out 2 decks of cards during the night.

I will always remember John, I worked next to him on rigs before he retired. A wealth of knowledge and great work ethic. I made it a point to pause and listen to his stories!
