Marion Edna Olson
June 4, 1934 - March 29, 2019

Place of Birth: Williston, ND
Residence: Williston, ND
Age: 84

Marion was born to Ed and Mable Olson on June 4, 1934 on a rural homestead near Williston, ND. Marion was one of ten rambunctious sibling’s growing up on the farm. She attended school at Johnson Elementary as a child and graduated from Williston High School in 1951.

As a young vibrant woman, she fell in love with a hard working and handsome farm boy from McVille, ND. Marion and Arvine were married on August 16, 1957. She started her working career at JC Penny’s as a bookkeeper and enjoyed telling her grandchildren stories of how the receipts were sent through the air on a line up to her office.

Marion was blessed with two daughters Kim and Jan. The girls were her life and thoroughly enjoyed being home caring for them and teaching them all of life’s lessons. Marion continued to work bookkeeping for the family business.

Marion and Arvine enjoyed traveling south to Arizona in the motor home to get some relief from the cold North Dakota winters. She loved spending time out at Lake Sakakawea camping and spending time with her family. She spent many hours teaching all of us card games and how to blow bubbles for the first time. She was always so kind and generous with her time for her grandchildren whether it was grilled cheese and sauce for lunch or watching the wheel together on an overnight stay. Marion cherished every moment she had with her great-grandchildren and loved watching them grow and spoiling them with treats. She always supported everyone around her and always encouraged us to aim high.

Marion is survived by her husband Arvine; her daughters, Kim (Stewart) Boston and Jan (Tom) Winzenburg; her siblings, Maxine Nelson, Irene Hillstead, Kenny Olson and Elvin Olson; her grandchildren, Ryan (Kari) Boston, Reo (Sarah) Boston, Jessica (Kris) Redka, Zach (Liz) Winzenburg; great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Ava, Anabella, Jaxson, Elliot, Olive, Thea, Max and Piper.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jim Olson, Morris Olson, Helene Diedrich, Floyd Olson and Clarence Olson. Marion passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Trinity Health Center in Minot, ND surrounded by her family.

To the Family,
I would like to express how sorry to hear of your loss. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. And when it happens, the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your loved one can be most difficult to bear. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that your loved one is up in heaven.
I found what God promises in the Bible helpful. At Acts 24:15 it says “And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead.”
This promise has consoled me when my father died. Hopefully, it can provide some hope and comfort to your family.
