Howard Nordmeyer, 85, of Culbertson, MT, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Golden, CO. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family.

Howard was born December 17, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the son of Henry and Ruth (Thaler) Nordmeyer. He attended his early school years in Chicago until the teenage years, when he moved with his family to Culbertson. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1952 and was proud that he was a member of the first Culbertson basketball team that went to state. Howard returned to Chicago, where he worked for the railroad until entering the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He returned to Chicago after his hitch in the service and continued to work for the railroad.

He was united in marriage to Madelyne Novak. To this union a son, Michael and a daughter, Laurie were born. After returning to Culbertson for a class reunion, Howard rediscovered his love for Montana and moved his family to Culbertson. In 1976, Howard was united in marriage to Genny Cellmer. Howard worked for the Culbertson Safflower plant for many years until his retirement and continued to live in Culbertson since.

Howard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thomas Mann Post #81, American Legion and the Culbertson Museum, where he enjoyed volunteering for many years.

Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage with his grandsons and was a great Chicago teams sports fan. He really enjoyed teasing people and giving them a hard time.

He is survived by his wife, Genny of Culbertson, his daughter, Laurie (Lary) Pearson of Culbertson, his son, Mike Nordmeyer of Culbertson, four grandchildren, Tanner Scotson (girlfriend, Grace)and Shayne Cochran both of Hawaii, Erin Pearson of Minneapolis, MN and Deanne (Chad) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN, one brother, Frank Nordmeyer of Wisconsin and one sister, Jeannine Hartry of Marion, MT.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael Joseph Nordmeyer in 1975 and four brothers, Kenneth, John, Robert and Donald.
