It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Ruth Elaine Mac Monagle
February 8, 1944 - November 14, 2019

Residence: Tioga, North Dakota

Ruth Elaine Mac Monagle peacefully joined her heavenly family on November 14, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born February 8, 1944 in Stanley, ND to Harry and Anna (Davy) Nelson. She was the 6th sibling out of 8. Her daddy passed away when she was 9 years old and left Anna to raise her family on her own. John Mayer later became a part of the family and helped raise the younger siblings.

Ruth graduated in 1962 from the Stanley High School. After high school Ruth worked for the Mountrail County Agent as a secretary. She met the love of her life, a White Earth boy named Dwight Mac Monagle and they were married on February 25th, 1967 in Stanley.

Ruth and Dwight moved to Tioga, ND and started their family; 5 children were born into this union. Ruth was a loving mother and wife who taught Sunday school, providing daycare for families from the area and eventually started her career at Mark It Foods where she eventually retired due to health issues.

Ruth’s love for her family and friends spilled over into all aspects of her life, especially when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This was how Grandma Goose came to be and she became Grandma Goose to everyone she met.

Ruth lived her life as fiercely as she loved: fully and unconditionally.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dwight; her daughters, Karen Brown of Bismarck, ND, Susan (Colin) Christofferson of Tioga, ND, Amy (Jason) Folvag of Grenora, ND and Heidi (Garrett Lalim) Holmen of White Earth, ND. Her grandchildren, Dustin Brown, Alysa (Mike) Addicott, Amber (AJ) Fiedler, Jenna (Justin Thompson) Christofferson, Kyle Christofferson, Juli Christofferson, Alex Holmen, Brynn Folvag, Kaden Holmen, Ashlyn Jorgensen and Katelynn Folvag. Her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Rayla Brown, Arabella Brown, Rylie Thompson, Addison Fiedler and Porter Addicott. Sisters-in-law, Arlene Nelson, Shirley Nelson, Bonnie Gunderson and Kathy Nielson. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Anna Nelson; son, Douglas Dwight; siblings, Henry Nelson, Viola Jones, Geneva Swartz, Larry Nelson, Harriet Nelson, Gladys Sartwell and Kenneth Nelson; John Mayer and her mother and father-in-law, Christine and John Mac Monagle, along with several sisters and brothers-in-law.
Thank You
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the Tioga Medical Center and Long Term Care for the loving care Ruth received.

We lost a true Tioga lady who was so much a part of our lives. I will remember her with a smile, and her kindness, and never once a bad word, nor a complaint, when she was going through so much in her life. Our deepest, most sincere sympathies to the family, and know that she is watching over you always, and with you always. As you keep her close to your heart, you keep her alive for generations to come. She was always my " Ruthie", and your pain is our pain as well. God be with you, us, and Tioga, she was a grand, grand LADY !! Now dressed in gold, healthy, and free, she will forever be missed.

Oh... Ruth, one of the first people I met when I started at the grocery store. Every time Evan and I would come home we would stop and see her. Evan always called her "Ruuf", she would laugh and smile at him. She raised some great women! I seem to know all of you in some way! Hugs to all!

Dear family, God bless your memories of Aunt Ruth, she was always a favorite and welcome place when I was growing up and I will always remember her laughter and smile, her words or advice and encouragement when I was a teenager. What a beautiful soul, so happy to imagine her and mom together with their family members! May all your memories be full of the joy she brought into my life!
