Shelly Viall, 63, of rural Epping, ND, passed away late Monday evening, January 20, 2020 at the Tioga Medical Center in Tioga. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family.
The Lord took our beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on January 20th, 2020.
Shelly Ann Viall was born November 16th, 1956 in Powers Lake, ND to Manley and Carol (Mollgaard) Holmen. As the oldest of three, Shelly quickly learned the meaning of love!
Shelly attended school in Powers Lake as well as Arizona. She graduated from Powers Lake High School with the class of 1975. In 1976, she met the love of her life, Larry Viall. They were united in marriage August 12th, 1978 in Powers Lake. Together, they made their home in Ray, ND where they had three boys, her pride and joys, Joshua, Joseph, and Jordon.
Shelly spent some time working at the Williston Hospital. From there, she worked as a secretary at Aminoil gas plant in Tioga. After starting their family, Shelly became a stay at home mom caring for her boys. In 1999, she started her home daycare business which she ran for 13 years. While doing so, she provided much love for multiple families in the Ray area. After her retirement, she and Larry built their dream home on Lake Sakakawea where they’ve resided since December 2012.
Shelly was over the moon when she became a grandma to her two grandchildren, Ryker Jo-6 and Everly Ann-1.
Shelly enjoyed camping, pontooning, cooking, shopping and decorating her house. Her favorite time of all was hosting her family and friends, whether it be for the holidays (Christmas was her favorite!!), or “happy hour” in the garage. Shelly’s selflessness was noted by all! She will always be remembered as a very caring and full of life person whom had a heart of gold and a smile on her face!
Shelly is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 41 years, Larry of rural Epping; her sons, Joshua of rural Epping, Joseph of Williston and Jordon (Lacey) of rural Ray; her grandchildren, Ryker and Everly; her mother, Carol Holmen and brother, Russell Holmen both of Powers Lake; her sisters-in-law, Rita Neary of Washington State and Joyce (Michael) Garaas of New Town/Arizona; her brothers-in-law, Raymond (Beverly) Viall of Ray and Ronald Viall of Ray/Texas, Marty Peterson of Rural McGregor. Multiple nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews, cousins, aunts and all her friends she considered family.
Shelly was welcomed in heaven with open arms by her father, Manley; sister, Cindy Peterson; sister-in-law, Shelley Viall and nephew, Casey Viall; her mother and father in law, Vernon and Rebecca Viall; her paternal and maternal grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
