Nola V. Kannegieter was born May 30, 1944 to Arthur and Olive Shurr Kannegieter in Willow Lake, SD. She attended school in Willow Lake graduating from Willow Lake High School in 1962. After graduating she worked at the high school as a secretary for a year and then moved to Watertown, SD. It was here that she met her husband Robert Lee Goodman.
In 1968 they moved to Circle, MT and then to Forsyth, MT in 1970. During this time, Nola was a stay at home mom until she took a job at First State Bank of Forsyth. Nola eventually began a long career at the Rosebud County Courthouse in the Treasurer’s office until retiring in 2005.
Nola had a huge love of animals, especially horses. She loved breeding, training and riding them. Her and her husband, Lee, shared a passion for Appaloosa horses in particular. Nola was very creative. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, cross-stitch, and pencil drawings. She was a very gifted artist. Her other great love was for being outdoors. She could often be found in the barn, or out for walks. Nola was an avid reader, passing that love on to her two daughters.
Nola is preceded in death by her husband Lee, her parents, her siblings Harold, Marlyn, and Clifford Kannegieter and Ruth Bastian.
She is survived by her daughters Karmalee Young of Gillette, WY and Gentrie (Mark) Lemerond of Sidney, MT, grandchildren Stephanie (Steven) White of Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, HI, and Hailey and Piper Lemerond of Sidney, MT, two great-grandchildren Lilia and Aiden White of Honolulu, HI, and her sister Lois Monahan, of Watertown, SD.
