Audrey Rose Irwin, 27 ( Chokecherry Eyes ) was born February 23, 1993 at Watford City, North Dakota to Clarine Merle Irwin and died quietly at home on July 25, 2020. She was an enrolled member of the Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation and a member of the Prairie Chicken Clan.
Audrey attended the Little Plume Headstart then the Mandaree Public School and graduated as salutatorian in May, 2011. Audrey was an outstanding athlete and started playing basketball as a 4th grader and played until she graduated. Not only did she play basketball but also joined cross country and track. She was a cheerleader and a member of the Indian club. Audrey was also a member of the "Regulators" who were horse back riders and represented the Mandaree School at many parades and functions. She was a fancy shawl dancer and traveled the powwow circuit with her grandpa and grandma. She also joined the boxing club which Virgil Chase coached. Not only did she box locally but also traveled to Canada for boxing matches.
When Audrey graduated from high school she worked as a summer intern for the West Segment Representative's office. She worked as an advocate for the Fort Berthold Domestic Program then enrolled in the Auto Machanics course at UTTC.
Audrey cherished her two daughters and had plans of watching them grow into adulthood and always held them close to her heart. Her hobbies included running, horseback riding, attending powwows, listening to music and hanging out with friends especially her brother, Derrick who was also her best friend. She greeted everyone who crossed her path with a smile and always looked on the positive side of life. Audrey was very caring and friendly and always helped those who asked her and did what she could for others. Even though Audrey was facing some difficult times she tried hard to overcome those times and planned to do better with her life. Audrey will always be remembered for her big smile and left us too soon. She left many friends and relatives behind who loved her and will be carried in our hearts forever.
Audrey Rose Irwin is survived by her Stepfather Donald and mother Clarine Merle Irwin-Young Bird, Mandaree. Daughters Andraya Salas and Jaylee Irwin, Mandaree; brother Derrick Irwin, Mandan, ND; Aunts Ann Grinnell and Lorraine (Mike) Irwin Howe; Cousins: Sonny Flynn, Blaine Flynn, Aaron Howe, Amber Howe, Bradley (Erin) Howe, Levi (Marlena) Grinnell, all of Mandaree; Michaela Howe, Mandan, ND; Sam (Michelle) Irwin, New Town, ND; Dylan Touchine, California; Tessa Irwin, Minot, ND. Stepsisters Sandy Young Bird, Mandaree and Mandy (Zack) Archambault, Minot, ND, stepbrother Clancey Lone Fight, Mandaree, ND, adopted aunts, Lisa Redford, Minot, ND, Sheila Pease, New Town, ND, and Tanya Fimbres, New Town, ND.
Audrey is preceded in death by her grandparents Meredith "Dreke" and Phyllis (Lincoln) Irwin, aunt Stephanie Irwin, uncles Gary and Richard "Dickie" Grinnell, brother Dwight Irwin, cousins Miles and Terrill Howe, Jason Guimont, Dustin Irwin and stepbrother Lyman Young Bird.
