It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Donald Eugene Aune
June 13, 1932 - October 30, 2020

Place of Birth: Minot, North Dakota
Residence: Stanley, North Dakota
Age: 88

Donald Eugene Aune, 88, of Stanley, ND went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2020 at which time he was a resident of the Tioga Medical Center Long Term Care in Tioga, ND.

Don was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in White Earth, ND. He was born on June 13, 1932 in Minot, ND, one of 4 sons born to Alfonso and Gunda Aune. He grew up in the Manitou and Lunds Valley area on the family farm and attended school at Lunds Valley and graduated from Stanley High School. He was employed by Great Northern Railroad before joining the Army in May of 1953. He earned medals for parachute jumping, national defense, and good conduct. He spent two years active duty and eight years in reserves.

He married Shirley Pappa in August 1955 until her passing in May of 1977. Five children were born during that union. They raised their family on the family farm near Cottonwood Lake. He sold the farm and moved to Stanley after he lost Shirley.

Don married Delphine Ennis of Stanley on June 5, 1979. Until his retirement in 1994 he was employed at Sundhagen Construction, Stanley School District, ASK, Inc., Tioga Air Heaters and Stanley Park Board after retirement. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He was an avid wood worker. Many people own pieces that Don hand crafted. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and family. If you were in need of a smile or humor, you could get it from Don.

Don and Delphine traveled to see children, grandchildren and other family as long as his health prevailed. When he could no longer travel, he wanted to be fishing. He didn’t care if he caught fish, it was the sport, the company and the beauty of the day.

Don is survived by his wife, Delphine; children, Scott (Lyda) of Bismarck, Dawn (Dave) Rayburn of Ohio, Cheryl (Danny) Holbert of Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Karla Aune of Mandan, Richard (Anna) Gerwien of Tioga, Yvonne (Ronald) Gunderson of Montana, Sandy (Tim) Gerwien of Wisconsin and Ronnie Gerwien of Williston; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen of Mountrail County Nursing home and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley; son, Myron; daughter, Colette; granddaughter, Kristi; and brothers, Clayton and Ardell.
