It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Aleta D. Sveen
July 14, 1959 - May 13, 2021

Place of Birth: North Dakota
Residence: New Town, North Dakota
Age: 61

Aleta Dawn Sveen (Niemitalo) was born in Stanley, ND on July 14, 1959 to her parents Diana (Metzler) and Lars Niemitalo. Lete grew up as a young child in the country near Belden, ND before moving to Stanley, ND with her family. Leta was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Stanley High School.

She met her husband, Russell Sveen, of 40 years in 1975. They married in 1980 and had their daughter, Allyn Sveen. Leta was blessed with two granddaughters, Shadoe Sveen and Gabrielle Rolfe. Her three girls and her husband were her whole world.

Lete and Russell made their home in New Town, ND. They were loved in the community, making lifelong friends. Lete and Russell always brought everyone together and made sure everyone had fun. Lete and Russell always joked and laughed together, showing their love. He did anything to make her smile. Throughout her life, Lete was a hardworking woman. Among various other jobs, Lete worked for the American Legion Post 290 for 30+ years. She was a Line Lead at Northrop Grumman, dedicating her time there for 19 years. Lete was always a natural leader, advocate, and respected friend. Lete had many interests and loves. She enjoyed bowling, winning many titles. She very much loved her time with family at Clear Lake. She always kept up the family tradition of making homemade ice-cream with the hand crank at holidays. Leta loved to cook and feed her family and friends. If you ever asked for her recipes, she never had any measurements because she just knew what to do; she always did.

You could often find Leta on the porch steps of her home, drinking coffee, and visiting with friends and family. Lete enjoyed reading, cozy pajamas, and wearing sassy shirts with fun sayings that went perfectly with her personality. Leta’s laugh was such a blessing to see and hear. She was always straight forward and told you how it was and made sure you knew how much she loved you. For such a small woman, she had such a big impact on so many people.

Aleta Sveen passed away in her home on May 13, 2021. Her beloved husband, Russell was by her side. She is preceded in death by her father, Lars Niemitalo. Surviving are her loving mother, Diana Niemitalo, her husband, Russell Sveen; her daughter Allyn Sveen (Chad Rolfe), her granddaughters, Shadoe Sveen (Trevor Almer) and Gabrielle Rolfe (Caleb Ramos), siblings Sonie Halvorson, Shawn Walter (Dan), Jett Niemitalo, Julie Niemitalo, Rachel Lonier (Tom), and Morgan Niemitalo. She is also survived by her nephews, nieces, and other dear family and friends that loved her so much.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Russell and Lete’s entire family. She was a real sweetheart despite the rough edges she occasionally displayed. She was a joy to work with at Northrop Grumman as she always took her work seriously.
I regret that I didn’t maintain much contact with her as she gallantly tried to fight off the cancer.
Her fun personality will truly be missed.
Sincerely,
Mel Adams
