Robert Owen “Bob” Lab, 75 of Culbertson passed away July 18, 2021, after a long, courageous fight against multiple health challenges.
Bob was born to John and Helen Lab in Williston, North Dakota, on May 17, 1946. He was raised and attended school in Culbertson. In 1965, he joined the Navy and served through 1969, part of the time in Vietnam.
On leaving the Navy, Bob worked in various sanitation services in Billings and opened his own business. When later faced with failing health, he sold his business and ultimately had a liver transplant. Over the next twenty years, he encountered many medical challenges and amazed his friends with both his determination and his ability to bounce back from near death. He remained as active as possible, especially enjoying bowling and attending local sports events. He had hoped to be an organ donor himself in gratitude for the gift he was given but his body was too worn out to make that possible.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy; and his much-missed brother, Bill. He is survived by family, including sister-in-law, Peggy; and his many long-term friends who appreciated and were inspired by his courage and will to live.
