Kathleen Ellen (Holte) Stockel, 75, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City on June 12, 2021.

Kathleen was born in Minot, ND on August 10, 1945, to Wally and Maxine Holte. She was raised and educated in Stanley and graduated from Stanley High School with the class of 1963. After graduating, Kathy attended Minot State University earning her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University Of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. She worked in the Houston, TX area for awhile and decided to further her education in Journalism. She moved to Iowa and earned her master’s degree at the University of Iowa.

Being very active in the communities she lived, Kathleen was a present figure both in the school systems, serving on the school board for many years and working with the PTA. She not only helped to start up a community theater group, but also taught advanced CPR and worked for the ambulance service. Being a true advocate for women all over, her dedication showed through her passion of working with the League of Women’s Voters. Kathy was the second woman in North Dakota to be trained as a paramedic. She loved helping and passing on her knowledge to others. While working in the Jamestown, ND area, Kathy was named North Dakota State Woman of the Year by the League of Women’s Voters.

Kathleen and her first husband were blessed with two wonderful boys, Mike and Dan. The marriage later ended in divorce. In 1998 Kathy married Bruce Stockel. They enjoyed traveling, spending time together and decided to make Salt Lake City their home.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Bruce Stockel; sons, Mike (Stephanie) Kadrmas, Dan (Julie) Kadrmas; grandchildren, Maddie, Kayleigh, Ian, Sabrina Kadrmas; brothers, Bob (Linda) Holte, Jerry Holte; sister, Mary (Mark) Gire; 9 beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
