Roger was born on December 14, 1933 in Soudan, Minnesota to Adolph and Elsie (Oja) Holm. He was raised in Soudan where he attended grade school, and graduated from high school in Tower, Minnesota.
He attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota one year, then was drafted into the Army at 18 years of age. He served two years of active duty and six years in the reserve.
Roger was united in marriage to Colleen Peterson, daughter of Sophus and Etta Peterson of McGregor, North Dakota, at Bethel Baptist Church in Powers Lake, North Dakota on June 21, 1957.
Roger continued his education after honorable discharge from the Army, at Bethel College in St. Paul and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He interned at St. Joseph Hospital School of Medical Technology in St. Paul where he served three years. He then went on to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada where he served as Director of Laboratory for three years. Together the couple moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where he attended the University of Hawaii, and interned at Liberty House Retail Management. For the next 27 years Roger worked in management at Liberty House, Duty Free Shoppers, and MacInerny’s in Honolulu. He also studied camera repair and worked at a camera repair store. Finally, he was hired as Materials Management at Diagnostic Laboratory Services for five years until he retired in June of 1994.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, hiking, woodworking, and was an excellent cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Sophus and Etta Peterson of Stanley.
Roger was is survived by his wife, Colleen; sister, Linda Jean (Holm) Bristol and her husband Walter Bristol; brother-in-law, David Peterson; nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
