Mark Neil Nesheim
February 16, 1947 - December 8, 2021

Place of Birth: Seattle, Washington
Residence: Palermo, North Dakota
Age: 74

Mark Nesheim, 74, of Palermo, North Dakota passed away on December 8, 2021 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.

Mark Neil Nesheim was born on February 16, 1947 in Seattle, WA to Halvor (H.B.) and Orma (Johnson) Nesheim. He was the younger brother of Pat, Gwen, and Kelly. After high school graduation he attended the University of Washington, but his favorite was the University of Puget Sound. Mark obtained a degree in business while working with his father (Nesheim Electric) in powerline construction. He took interest in the stock market and investments at a young age with his father. The Rule of 72 was a principal he always tried to relate to young and older generations as a saving and investment strategy. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Avionic Technical Specialist from 1968-1973, and briefly with the North Dakota Army National Guard.

On August 17, 1979 he married his one and only wife, Noel Gorseth. They continued to farm and supplement his farming interest with electrical work for various local electrical firms during the winter. Noel continued with her nursing employment.

In 1988 the couple adopted two children from Colombia, South America. Jon, age 4, and Lucia, age 3. Both were a joy and at times a challenge to raise in a mainly European community. By land, the family had many enjoyable adventures on skiing and sports events with family and friends. Wintering in Mesa, AZ for nine years also found them traveling by land or sea locally or distance much to their pleasure with friends both new and old.

Mark had dealt with prostate cancer since 2008. The last four years he dealt with chemo to control his prostate cancer as he chose through Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Scottsdale, AZ, and Trinity Cancer Care. He greatly appreciated all those who gave him direct patient care, special thanks to all of you! Mark passed away peacefully without pain with his loving wife by his side on December 8, 2021.

Mark is survived by his wife, Noel; son, Jon; daughter, Lucia; two grandchildren, Malachi and Ivelisse, which he loved very dearly; sisters, Pat (Paul) and Gwen; brother, Kelly (Maria); many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and his friends near and far.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Orma; uncle, Gordon; brother-in-law, Bill; a number of cousins and their spouses; aunts and uncles that helped shape his life here on Earth.

Blessed be his memory among us.
