Marlyn “Muffy” Watterud, 89, of McGregor, North Dakota passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Crosby, North Dakota.

Marlyn Darwin Watterud (Muffy) was born on July 28, 1933 to Clarence and Hazel (Peterson) Watterud in Columbus, North Dakota. He spent most of his childhood in Powers Lake, North Dakota.

Muffy married the love of his life Arlis Marie Skarphol on September 11, 1955. They worked together to make a wonderful life for each other and their five children. Although Muffy worked many jobs, but his passion was raising his cows and farming. He was very proud of the farmstead that him and Arlis made their home.

Muffy had a great sense of humor, his family could always count on him for a joke or funny song lyrics. Even in the hospital, he entertained the doctors and nurses. He loved to sing karaoke and dance with his wife.

He is survived in life by his wife, Arlis Skarphol Watterud; his children, Michael, Debra (Darrell) Stegman, Tamara (Scott) Sem, Robert (Jill), and David (Ann); siblings, Elenor Enget, Arllyce (Loyal) Peterson, Rev. Clarence, Rev. LaVerne (Linda) and Gerald (Ardith); 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Muffy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin, Kenny and Daryl (Bob); his sisters and their husband's, Delores Enget (Oris), Jeanette Nelson (John), and Luella Shefstad (Walt). Also his sister in-law Mardel Watterud.

Our hearts go out to the entire family with the loss of Uncle Muffy. I have so many GREAT memories of him and Arlis at the farm riding horses with my cousins, always laughing and having a good time.
