Susan Johnsrud
April 3, 1958 - September 11, 2022

Place of Birth: Tioga, ND
Residence: Minot, ND
Age: 64

Susan Gail (Fredrickson) Johnsrud, 64 of Minot, ND joined Jesus on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Trinity Health in Minot, ND. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Tioga, ND is assisting the family.

She was born April 3rd, 1958, the first child of Leslie and Rose (Brenno) Fredrickson of Tioga. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, ND and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND.

In 1976, Susan graduated from Tioga High School and went on to attend Williston College. While at Williston College, she met James Johnsrud who she later married in 1977. They moved to Watford City, ND and were blessed with 3 sons: Ryan, Rory and Garrett. Susan loved being a mother and instilled great family values in her children. She was very strong in her faith and was active in the choir at First Lutheran Church in Watford City, ND and enjoyed singing, playing the bass guitar and flute in Women’s Aglow.
Susan worked many jobs while the boys were in school, ranging from secretary at Co-Op Lumber to running her own daycare. No matter the position she held, her favorite job was managing the family and creating a home for her family and sharing the love of Jesus. She was caring and loving with an interest in computers, cooking, gardening and especially her family. In 1997, she took the position of Assistant Director at McKenzie County Tourism Bureau. Working for the Tourism Bureau seemed to re-invigorate her love of the outdoors. She spent many years working in the tourism industry throughout the State of North Dakota.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan Johnsrud, Rory (Jennifer) Johnsrud of Fargo, Garrett Johnsrud of Savage, MN; grandsons, Jacob and James Quast; granddaughter, Chloe Johnsrud; mother, Rose Stewart of Tioga, ND; father, Leslie Fredrickson of Sidney, MT; brothers, Steve (Darcy) Fredrickson of Minot, ND, Dale (Tammy) Fredrickson of Williston, ND, Dean (Tammy) Fredrickson of Boise, ID, David Fredrickson of Watford City, ND, Darren Fredrickson of Sidney MT; stepbrother, Perry (Tina) Stewart of Williston, ND, Paula (Peter) Cyr of Devils Lake, ND; aunts and uncles, Jim and Pat Fredrickson of Lewistown, MT, Allen and Sandy Fredrickson of Kalispell, MT, Darrell and Julie Brenno of Columbus, ND, Don and Terresa Brenno of Pagota Springs, CO, Terry and Wendy Brenno of Minot, ND, Sally Evenson of Noonan, ND; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mattie and Orville Brenno, Julius and Bertha Fredrickson; stepfather, James “Doc” Stewart; Aunts and Uncles, Delores and Frank Luckman, Oral Brenno and Darrell “Leo” Fredrickson.

May God continue to bless Susan.

During our high school years, Sue was one of my closest friends. Always quick with a smile. And that smile would light up any room. Even years after our school days, even a chance encounter with Sue was met with her million dollar smile and a hug.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God Bless you all.

So sorry to hear of Sue's passing. Shocking to lose a wonderful soul at this young age. Growing up on Dean Avenue, she will be remembered for her wonderful smile and positive manner. She had it tough keeping her five younger brothers in line but did a marvelous job. Sympathies to her sons and to the Fredrickson family.
