Inga Avelyn Omlid, age 96, a long-time resident of the Good Shepherd Home passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Inga was born at home on November 22, 1927, to Peter and Ellen (Stovra) Omlid at Norstog Township, McKenzie County, south of Watford City.

Inga attended Wonderland Country School for a short time.
Even though Inga was hearing and speech impaired, she loved to bring joy to others by smiling, throwing kisses, being mischievous and laughing. Her favorite everyday enjoyment over the years were watching TV which included the Price is Right, Days of Our Lives, and golfing. She loved to bake, and her favorite was making sugar cookies. Some of her hobbies were latch hook kits, paint by number, embroidering, putting puzzles together and with her green thumb grew beautiful flowers. When she was a resident at the Good Shepherd Home she never missed an activity, and her favorite was Bingo. She loved having her hair fixed and her nails painted, and her favorite color was pink.

Inga was involved in WELCA and Roosevelt Homemakers Club and was a member of Spring Creek Lutheran Church and then First Lutheran Church.

Inga is survived by her nephews, Robert and Milton Omlid; Judith (Arden) Omlid; her great nephews and nieces, Kristine (Doyle) Webb, Stacey (Robin) Arndt, Kevin Omlid, Patricia (Craig) Winn, Amy (Rich) Bohl, and Joseph Omlid; many great, great-great, and great-great nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Ellen Omlid; brothers, Arnold Omlid, Theodore “Teddy” Omlid, and Nils Omlid; her sister, Edith Omlid; sister-in-law, Margot Omlid; and nephew Arden Omlid.

Inga was the sweetest lady. Her bright eyes took in all the wonders of the world. I will miss greeting her with a handshake. Our sympathies to the family.

Miss Inga, was a sweet and gracious lady. Her big blue eyes lit up whenever she greeted you. Gods garden will be ready to greet her on her arrival.

Inga and I were in the same church circle for many years, we worked side by side at weddings, funerals, etc. We had the best time, she was a joy.
