Mary G Schroeder, 70, of McGregor, North Dakota passed away the afternoon of August 10th 2024.

Mary was born on March 21st 1954, at the Stanley Hospital to Raymond and Edna (Van Duyn) Mattson. She was raised and educated in Tioga.

Mary was united in marriage to Gary Schroeder on September 1st 1974. To this marriage their daughter, Teresa was born.

Mary lived life to the fullest. If you knew her, you knew she was “that crazy bingo lady”. Bingo was always eventful if Mary was there. Regardless if she was having a bad day, she still had a smile on her face. One of her favorite sayings started with “you buy them books; you send them to school... and what do they do?? They eat the......” We will let you finish that! Mary had a foul mouth but, a heart of gold. She would give the shirt off her back for anyone who needed it. Every place she went, you could find her with her knitting bag.

She also loved gambling and attending the Minnesota Wild Hockey games. Her love for Hockey grew when her granddaughter, McKenzie started playing. You always knew when there was a game on because she was decked out in Minnesota Wild attire as thou she was going to be jumping in and playing the hockey game herself. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter – Teresa, grandchildren - McKenzie and Paxten, and great-grandson Keaton Gary.

Mary was baptized and confirmed into the Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga.

Mary’s absence will be felt immensely by all her family and friends and those who loved her most.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Teresa Schroeder (Daren Barkie); grandchildren, Paxten and McKenzie (Nick DeTeinne); and great-grandson, Keaton Schroeder all of Kenmare, ND; her sister, Janice (Mike Winter) of Falon, MT; and numerous special nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, her special Bingo Players and all members of American Legion Post.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Mattson and Edna Mattson Odegaard; her husband, Gary Richard Schroeder; brothers, Lynn, Gerald, and James Mattson and step-father, Nels Odegaard.

We lost a jewel of a woman, I worked with her years ago, but once a friend, always a friend ! I kept up with her through her bingo, weather reports and always a kind word or sincere concern for others. Rest in peace, Mary, and this morning you got Chewy by your side. Watch over Paxton on the loss of you, his Gramma, and now his dad. Teresa, God is with you.

Rest in peace, Mary.
Mary and I were good friends in school. When I think of Mary, I always smile. Each March 21, I would wish her a Happy Birthday from afar.
Rest in peace, my friend.
