Karen Faye Wurgler
September 15, 1950 - September 11, 2024

Residence: Watford City, North Dakota

Karen Faye Gravos was born on September 15, 1950, in Williston, ND to parents Leif and Audrey (Olson) Gravos. She passed away unexpectedly at her home in Watford City, ND on September 11, 2024.

She grew up on a family farm and attended school in Arnegard, ND. She then went on to graduate from Watford City High School. She married Ralph Folven, which later ended in divorce. She then married her current husband, Dale Wurgler.

Karen had so many hobbies. When the weather was warm, she enjoyed walking around the pond and going fishing. Every so often, she and her friends would meet up at Little Missouri Grille for lunch and gossip about just about everything. When hanging out at home, she would either be scrolling the internet or watching every episode of Judge Judy, probably with a bowl of original Lays next to her. Her love and ability to cook always made the holidays so special to everyone. More than anything, she enjoyed putting together her outfits. She always had the newest trends from the local boutiques. From her earrings, down to her shoes, everything had to match. She truly was our “Glamma.”

Karen enjoyed watching her grandkids in everything they did, from ice skating, volleyball, dance, cross country, track, basketball, and even attending modeling excursions around the world. She was their biggest fan and was always so proud of them. Karen, our wife, mom, grandma, “far away grandma,” sister, aunt, and friend, will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leif and Audrey Gravos; sister, Sheri Henson; and stepdaughter Jessica Wurgler.

She is survived by her husband Dale Wurgler; children, Jeremy (Laura) Folven, Jody (Arlon) Franz, Sara (Jaymie) Romo, and Dales’s son Nathan (Amy) Wurgler; grandchildren, Kayla Folven, Morgan and Macee Franz, and Dyson, Brooklyn, and Lauryn Romo; step-grandkids, Austin (Ariana) Wurgler; great-granddaughter, Alani Wurgler; and sisters, Clarice Hartel, Bonnie Glasser and Jeanette Chambers.

Oh Wow! This is such a shock! Wednesday at 2:00 PM I was eating lunch at the Asian Garden cafe in Sidney and Karen walked in. I said Hi Karen to her and she said Hi! I never would have thought this would happen. I pray for her family and for God’s presence and closeness at this time of great loss. Karen will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her here at Watford City!

I’d like to make a correction to the former condolence to Karen’s family that I posted. Jody informed me that it was Monday that Karen was at the Asian Garden for lunch at Sidney, not Wednesday. I apologize for my mistake. It was Monday!
