Linda Lee Rystedt, 76, of Powers Lake, ND, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Trinity Health Hospital in Minot, ND.

Linda was born on January 16, 1948 in Powers Lake, North Dakota. She was the second of five children born to Lillian and Erling Barmoen and grew up on the family farm near McGregor. She attended Pleasant View Country School until the seventh grade, then attended school in Battleview for a short time. She was confirmed in McGregor and graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1965.

On March 27, 1965 Linda was united in marriage to Thomas Rystedt. They made their home together north of Battleview and raised their five children there on the farm. Linda enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, golfing, dancing, and quilting. She spent many hours working on the family tree and putting together scrapbooks. She loved her children and served as both a 4-H leader and Girl Scout troop leader. Much time was spent helping children get ready for county fairs.

Linda was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Battleview. She was active in Ladies Aid and made numerous quilts each year with the other ladies of the church. For several years, she served as the Sunday School superintendent, the church treasurer, and the secretary.

After most of the children were grown, Linda began attending college at Fort Berthold Community College in New Town, ND. She graduated with her LPN and started working at the Tioga Medical Center where she stayed for eighteen years. Linda and Tom moved permanently off the family farm and into their home located in Powers Lake, ND in 2004.

Following retirement, Linda and Tom spent a few winters in Mesa, AZ where Linda enjoyed the company of friends and the warm weather.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Tom Rystedt; sons, Paul (Danielle) Rystedt and Brian Rystedt; daughters, Roberta (Mitch) Pride, Bonnie (Scott) Zundel, and Brenda (Stacey) Sem; brothers, Erling (Mona) Barmoen and Myron Barmoen; sister, Judy (Robert) Trones; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of great friends.

I was shocked to read of Linda’s passing. I babysat her and Tommy’s children when I was in high school. She was always the sweetest kindest person. She will be missed.
