Place of Birth: Crosby, North Dakota

Carol Jean (Wirtz) Liesener, 75, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 17th, 2025 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Carol was born on December 21st, 1949 to Matt and Audrey (Elsbernd) Wirtz in Crosby, ND. They made their home in Crosby, Powers Lake and Ray, ND. She graduated from Ray High School in 1968. After high school, Carol and
her best friend and eventual sister-in-law, Gloria (Liesener) Norby, attended NewYork Hairstyle Academy in Fargo, ND. Upon graduating from the academy, she returned to Ray and married the love of her life, Milan Ray Liesener on October 17th, 1969. Together they had two wonderful children; Chad and Missy (Melissa).

She was a loving spouse and mother and will always be remembered for her caring, compassionate and spunky personality.

Carol held many different jobs throughout her life. Most of which were in sales, but her most meaningful jobs involved helping disadvantaged people, which she excelled at. Her family was her most important job of all and she took that very seriously. She was a doting grandma of three amazing boys; Brett, Brady and Caleb, whom she fiercely defended. Just ask anyone at their sporting events! Carol enjoyed camping, fishing with her family and countless trips to visit her parents and siblings in Montana. Some of her passions were garage sale-ing, tending to her flowers and cooking for her family.

Her faith was very important to her throughout her life and she passed that onto her husband and children.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Milan of 55 years; son, Chad Liesener of Denver, CO; daughter, Melissa (Chuck) Doeden of Williston, ND and their sons, Brett Doeden (Maegan Marmon) of Missoula, MT, Brady Doeden (Brooklyn Haug) of Grand Forks, ND and Caleb Doeden of Missoula, MT; brothers; Ken (Mary) Wirtz of Bozeman, MT, Brad (Laurie) Wirtz of Twin Falls, ID, Dan (Stacy) Wirtz of Helena, MT; sister, Valerie Hawkins of Helena, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom were all a very important part of her life.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Matt & Audrey (Elsbernd) Wirtz; and brothers, Barry Wirtz and Craig Wirtz (who passed away in early childhood.)

I loved Carol. Even though it had been years with no contact, I still feel the same. We worked together at the camera and jewelry department in Kmart. We had so much fun, it was a joy to go to work. We would hide jewelry and as the weeks go buy, secretly mark them down to a price we could tolerate. We just clicked even though she was 7 years older that me, and in my early 20's, that was something! I have never forgotten her, she was an important woman in my life. I hope to see her in Heaven some day.
