Place of Birth: Minot, North Dakota

Roger Evans, 81, of Stanley, North Dakota (formerly of Ross, North Dakota), passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.

Obituary as written by Roger:

I was born on June 20, 1944, to Ervin and Evelyn (Elefson) Evans in Minot, North Dakota. I then lived and grew up on the family farm near Ross, North Dakota.

I attended grade school in Manitou which was a country school and graduated from eighth grade in 1958. After that, I attended high school in Stanley, North Dakota, and graduated in 1962. While in school, I participated in 4H and FFA activities, as well as some sports. During my school years, I also attended church and Sunday School at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ross, North Dakota and was confirmed there.

After high school, I started farming with my father and rented some land from Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Reynolds. I also began doing custom work, such as haystack moving and trucking.

I belonged to a number of clubs and organizations, such as the Stanley Lions and the American Legion Club. I was active in the men’s bowling league in Stanley and competed in numerous tournaments over the years. I also served on the board as board president for the Golden Age Club, served on the Ross Elevator Board for many years, was on the board of directors for Ag Improvement, and was a Manitou Township officer. I was a Soil Conservation Supervisor for Mountrail County where I replaced my dad, who also was a supervisor prior to me. I served for 30 years on the Soil Conservation board. I also actively supported, attended, and watched all the grandkids athletics both in person or streaming online.

I married Adeline (Addy) Erickson on August 6, 1971, in Kenmare, North Dakota. We lived in a mobile home on the Evans’ farm. Then we started our family, having one son, Duane, and one daughter, Donna. They grew up, and are now married so we now have five grandchildren and one great grandson.

Roger is survived by his wife, Adeline (Addy) Evans; children, Duane (Kelly) Evans and Donna (Clint) Ruden; grandchildren, Coen Evans, Tate Evans, Cody Ruden, Alyssa (Joel) Ngorimo, and Carter Ruden; great-grandson, Jaxon Ngorimo; brothers, Gary (Vicki) Evans and Wayne (Diana) Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

My sincere sympathy. Roger was a frequent visitor of Harriet, our neighbor in Stanley, as well as a genuine kind man in the area. Wishing I could be there to honor him at the service, but weather and commitments have not allowed that. Please know how I respected Roger. Barb

My condolences to the family. Roger and Addie were always so kind to me. I always felt like they were my God Parents because they never missed my birthday and were always so nice to remember me on Christmas. Such good people.

Roger was a great example of how a man should act. He was a great neighbor and friend. We customed combined together a number of years and Roger and Addy were great to work with. Roger would take the Lord's name in vain, at times he would say goodness or oh dear but no cursing. So many good memories.
