Doreen JoAnne (Koeser) Hexom
October 16, 1945 - February 8, 2026

Place of Birth: Watford City, North Dakota
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 80

Doreen JoAnne Hexom, 80, of Williston, ND, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 8th, 2026.

Doreen was born to Edwin and Lillian (Veeder) Koeser on October 16, 1945 in Watford City, ND. She, along with her 5 siblings were raised in Watford City, ND. She attended Watford City High School, graduating with the class of 1963. Upon graduating she went on to study elementary teaching, earning a degree from Marion College (now known as Indiana Weslyan University) in 1967.

While teaching school in Williston, ND, she met Steve Hexom, whom she married in 1968. Doreen later worked in administration for their family business, Hexom Earth Construction. After many years there, she returned to her passion for teaching as a substitute teacher and worked with an after-school program at the Northwest Human Resource Center.

With a calm and collective personality and life molded by routine and organization, Doreen was a woman who shared a love that held no judgement. Anyone fortunate enough to know her can attest to this, especially her grandchildren.

After retiring she was able to share her love with friends and family through the many travels she had taken. If not traveling or playing bingo with her friends, she could be found reading and working on puzzles.

Doreen will be remembered as a loyal wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Kyle Hexom and his children, Jordan, Kate, and Lauren; Nathan (Heather) Hexom and their children, Hailey, Milly, and Owen; Sara (Dustin) Harmon and their children, Reese, Kalli, and Easton; Aaron (Jennifer) Hexom and their daughter, Rebecca. She is also survived by her siblings: Carolyn Smith, Ardyce Sickler, Ward (Joetta) Koeser, Mark (Janice) Koeser; sisters-in-law, Eunice Pitman, Sylvia Vigesaa; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Doreen is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lillian; husband, Steve; sister, Janice Harvey; brothers-in-law, Gary Sickler, James E. Smith, Jr., Gary Hexom.
