Judith Ann Erickson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, at the age of 83. She was born April 3, 1943, in Humboldt, South Dakota, to Robert and Edith Deming. She graduated from Fairview High School, where she was both a Tumbler and a Twirler. Her four children were her pride and joy.
On September 23, 1988, she married Wes Erickson. In a unique ceremony at the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers, Wes and Judy began their remarkable journey together. In nature, geese mate for life—typically between 10 and 25 years. Wes found his goose, and she her gander. They were happily married for 37 years, and she left this world with her hand in his.
Judy had a fierce love of home. She loved Fairview and the people in it. She was deeply proud of her community and worked hard to make it shine. Her work on the seed picture, her devotion to the Presbyterian Church, a Jayceen President, and her years organizing the Kiddie Parade all reflected her dedication to the place and people she loved.
Judy is survived by her husband; her sons, Todd (Patti) Cayko of Fairview, Montana and Ron (Nicole) Cayko of Walker, Minnesota; her daughters, Brenda (Dennis) Burk of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Ivanna (Kirk) Fritz of Kalispell, Montana; and six grandchildren: Robert Durand, Kyle Cayko, Casey Cayko, Erin Burgess, Anika Wutke, and Aidan Fritz. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren and a large extended family who will remember her fondly.
