Orrin Laverne Moe of Watford City, North Dakota, passed away Saturday morning, September 12th, 2026, at the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, North Dakota. He was raised in the Tioga area.

Orrin lived and loved his life in North Dakota, owning Orrin’s Bobcat Service. He started working at Conlins Construction and began his oilfield career at the age of 16, working for R.A. Prather in Tioga, ND, working his way up to become a Tool Pusher. From there, Orrin went on to start Orrin’s Bobcat Service and enjoyed working with all the great employees that worked with him. In 1990, he sold his business and continued with his other jobs, including working for CSI Construction, Steve Nelson Trucking, McKenzie County Road Department, and finally, his retirement job: Joyce Moe’s Construction, Moving & Storage. He was never hired at Little Missouri Grille, even though he was offered a job washing dishes for how often he ate there! He was a former employee at McKenzie Bay Marina, and he was a dog sitter for every member of his family!

Orrin attended every lutefisk feed in Western, ND, making sure to wear his bright yellow shirt so that Joyce couldn’t see the butter stains! He also knew how to make room for a good pork chop or polish sausage. Every dog, horse, and cat he ever met wanted to spend their days with him, and he had a gift that made everyone feel like the most important person on the earth. Orrin knew how to tell a good story, and the wildest ones were true! He never met a stranger, and every stranger wanted to know him.

Orrin lived by the statement that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and he enjoyed driving the Bobcat and talking about going fishing! He never met a shovel he didn’t like! He loved looking at a good water tower, watching a Western, and spending time with his family and friends.

Orrin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce; his son Terry (“favorite daughter-in-law Angie”); his two darlins, Molly (Justin) and Hayley (Nick); three great-grandkids, Harlow, Hawkin, and Hunter; his siblings, Carol, Gene (Penny), Ilona (Dale), and Wade (Debie); and many nieces, nephews, friends, and his favorite son-in-law, Cordell Wold (Caryn).

The moment he died, he had a reunion 17 years in the making with his daughter, Connie Jean Wold. He is also preceded in death by his mom, Ida; dad, Carly, his brother, Leon (who leaves behind his partner Della); God daughter, Rennee Heggen; brother-in-law, Louie Longie; nephew, Jason Longie; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Vernice Crimmins; his brother-in-law, Frankie Dean Crimmins; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Don Sillerud; brother-in-law, Dale Crimmins; many four-legged friends: Melvin, Lester, Herb, Fred, Oscar, Pixie, Gunnar Laverne, Tracker, Crayola, Louie, China, and too many horses to name.
