Sandra Kay Wollan
July 20, 1951 - February 20, 2023

Place of Birth: Akron, Colorado
Residence: Watford City, North Dakota
Age: 71

Sandra Kay Wollan was born July 20, 1951 in Akron, Colorado to Floyd & Merle (Stashuk) Daley. Sandra spent her childhood living in numerous different states as her family traveled often, with her Dad employed as a seismographer, for Amerada. Sandra was a majorette in high school and even twirled fire lit batons. She graduated from London, Kentucky in 1969. Shortly after her graduation, Sandra moved to Watford City, with her parents, and met Miles Wollan.

Sandra and Miles were married in 1972 and to this union 4 children were born: Travis, Brandon, Heather & Heidi. Sandra stayed at home and did daycare when her children were young. She was also a very talented cake decorator and made all of her kids cakes, when they were younger. Sandra later became employed at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City. There she made lifelong friends and took special care of the many residents and even some family members, over the 30 plus years she worked there.

Sandra and Miles were very active following all of the kids’ sporting events and rarely ever missed a game. They spent much of their time doing recreational activities with their children growing up. The family spent time cross country skiing, riding snowmobiles, hiking, bike riding, water skiing, ice skating, camping, and enjoyed countless weekends, at Tobacco Gardens.

Sandra was also an avid reader and was always caught up on the latest news. She would often cut out newspaper clippings and send them to her family and friends. Sandra dedicated a lot of her time to sending cards and letters to her loved ones and this continued on to her grandchildren, throughout the years. She never made a visit to her children and grandchildren without a care package filled with household items, money and their favorite snacks. Sandra loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Arizona, when her parents would “snowbird” there in the winters. Sandra and Miles also traveled often to visit family in Kentucky, Michigan and Montana. Summer trips to Glacier National Park hold special memories.

In her later years in life, Sandra took many trips to Las Vegas and California to visit her boys and grandchildren. Sandra’s joy in life was being there for her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or special event, involving her family. Sandra would spend hours on her deck in the warmer months, taking care of her numerous plants and feeding the birds and squirrels. She would message her daughters often to talk about the beautiful weather or share pictures of her beautiful flowers and landscaping. Just this past year, Sandra and Miles celebrated 50 years of marriage. They also welcomed their first great-grandchild in November. Unfortunately, due to her declining health, Sandra did not get the opportunity to meet baby, Avery.

In her 71 years on this earth, Sandra was an amazing mother, grandmother & wife. Her love and devotion to her family will always be cherished. Sandra passed away in her home on February 20, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer, for the third time.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Miles; children, Travis (Kristen) Wollan of Sky Valley, CA; Brandon Wollan of Indio, CA; Heather (Jim) Luchi of Dickinson, ND; Heidi (Aaron) Trauger of Dickinson, ND; sister, Cheryl Enderud of Dickinson, ND; brothers, Ron Daley of Hazard, KY; David Daley of Hot Springs, SD; Sandra is survived by 11 grandchildren: Sarah (Dillon) Gutta, Taylor (Jerry) Herd, Miles, Lane & Hope Wollan; Aubrey Wollan; Burkley, Jersi & Bianca Luchi; Blake & Brooke Trauger and 1 great-grandchild; Avery Herd.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Merle Daley.

Miles & Family
I have so many memories as a young teenager going out at night and putting up many grain bins with Miles, and him teaching and letting me drive his Volkswagen back home that night. I fortunately got to know Sandie very well later in life when Mom was placed in the Good Shepherd with failing health & dementia. I was so impressed of her compassion towards Mom and the care she gave her. She also was a calming person to talk with, and I will be forever grateful to her for that. Rest in peace Sandie & Thank You!!!

Wollan family,

My heart and prayers are with you through your mourning. May you find comfort in the knowledge that Sandra is a one-of-a-kind creation made with intent by a God outside of time and space who loves her in ways beyond our limited understanding. During the times her absence in your life hurts the most, I pray you are reminded of God's promises of everlasting life and are filled with peace knowing you will see her again beyond this physical world.
